Williamsburg, VA

This Sunday after our services, we drove up to Williamsburg, VA (home of Water Country USA, Busch Gardens, and historical sites such as the Jamestown settlement and Colonial Williamsburg).

This trip took us to Colonial Williamsburg to visit the historical sites. This was very much a spur-of-the-moment trip as we didn't leave until around 4pm. I had only visitied Colonial Williamsburg once before. It seems to be the case that no matter where you live in the country you can ignore some of the greatest treasures at your back door.

Anyway, below are some pictures of the trip:

[This couple caught my attention when I saw her put her cell phone in that basket. I then asked if they would allow me to take this picture. It turns out that they don't work at the settlement (although apparently 80 families live there in traditional garb). This couple was visiting from New Jersey and just wanted to have the complete experience.]

The Capitol: Check out informaiton on the Colonial Williamsburg Capitol here.

Bruton Parish Church: Hey, I'm a Pastor... I couldn't resist.
Check out some info on the Bruton Parish Church here.

One of a couple of taverns in town. I hear the food here is terrific. Unfortunately we didn't stop in to eat. We live close enough though that I think we're going to come back soon and have dinner.

Met some nice people along the way:

Meet Erik. Erick was kind enough to check us out of the Wythe candy store. He caught our attention when he called us over and offered to check us out... Why does that matter? There was a HUGE line at the front of the store. I thanked him and asked if I could let the world know of my gratitude for his kindness. I also gave him a card with a link to my (Tally) blog.

STAN DA' MAN!
Stan was our waiter at Cracker Barrel. The closest Cracker Barel to us is 45 mins away so we enjoyed our meal.

Our Son, Caleb Matthew Wilgis

Today Kristy and I (along with some family) went to see our son Caleb [due on July 25th] in 4-D. It's a 3D image but they call it 4D when the image is moving. So please welcome to the scene...

Baby Showers R-US!

Kristy and I will be enjoying a baby shower at her office today.

Kristy has enjoyed her time at Kafuman and Canoles and her departure to come home in July will be bitter-sweet. She honestly could not work for a better attorney. He's a Christian who is extremely active in his church and within our community. He's been an encouragement to her and they work wonderfully together. The sweet side will be that she gets to come home and bring up Caleb. Kristy is made for motherhood. I'm certain she'll be a terrific mom!

Caleb's Name

Numbers 13
26
They came back to Moses and Aaron and the whole Israelite community at Kadesh in the Desert of Paran. There they reported to them and to the whole assembly and showed them the fruit of the land. 27 They gave Moses this account: "We went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey! Here is its fruit. 28 But the people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large. We even saw descendants of Anak there. 29 The Amalekites live in the Negev; the Hittites, Jebusites and Amorites live in the hill country; and the Canaanites live near the sea and along the Jordan."

30 Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, "We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it."

Caleb (in the book of numbers) was a man who stood up for God regardless of what others thought. He and Joshua were the only ones who came back to camp and said "Let's do it!"

In life we need people who will look at "those who are powerful and cities that are fortified and very large" and simply say "We can certainly do it!" I want my son to grow into a man who honors God with his desire to follow God and lead man. Caleb is being named as an encouragement from his parents to be 'faithful and bold'.

Welcome

Welcome to our family site. This site is designed to be a communication tool from the Wilgis family to our relatives and friends. We decided to create this site after discovering in December '04 that we were expecting our first child. We've since found out that we will be having a little boy. Kristy and I (Tally) have decided to name him "Caleb Matthew". Caleb is due on July 25th.

Many exciting things are in store for our family and we look forward to sharing those with you!
